Game 1 - Scrap Station
Standard openings for both players
Proxy pylon for Ace behind the minerals at his natural's high ground
Factory scouting for TOP, twilight council warps in at the proxy for Ace
Starport coming for TOP, dark shrine now for Ace
TOP getting a banshee and two barracks, robotics coming for Ace
The factory heads toward the hidden templar archives and dark shrine, but stops as Ace puts down his expansion
The first banshee reaches the back of the base but has no cloak and is chased out by stalkers without much problem
Raven out now for Top, warp prism for Ace with dark templar in it, but seeing the raven he can't even attempt the drop
Top begins knocking down the rocks with his marauders/marine army (plus the banshee for support)
Top sends about half his SCVs as well, Ace counters with a DT to TOP's main
TOP scans but doesn't have marauders in the right place to kill it
TOP's attack rolls up the ramp, not enough force fields to prevent them from going up the ramp
TOP lets the DT in his main kill his SCVs there while he destroys Ace's base
Finally TOP scans and easily kills the DT in his main
Ace concedes
Well, Ace tried a dark templar rush. TOP built a raven. Build order win for TOP.
Game 2 - Jungle Basin
Standard openings for both players
Fairly quick expansion for TOP (23 supply) while making marauders
Two more gateways for Ace, three more barracks for TOP
Ace starts his nexus at about 37 supply, also starts a twilight council
Stim for TOP, hallucinate research and then dark shrine for Ace
Ace puts a proxy pylon in the bushes outside TOP's rocks, and although he has a patrolling SCV he doesn't see it
TOP moves into the middle of the map with about six marauders and a dozen marines
DTs warping into the back natural and killing SCVs and forcing TOP to make turrets and drop scans
Five scans so far for TOP, turrets building
TOP's small group of infantry destroys the rocks and moves into Ace's natural
Very good force fields allow Ace to hold with only a few stalkers and sentries
Starport coming for TOP, zealot legs for Ace
Ace moves out with three sentries and about 10 stalkers, warping in zealots at proxy pylon
Ghost academy and dropships coming for TOP as Ace attacks through the rocks
The army moves in and forces TOP to lift the command center, it only barely gets away from the stalkers
The marauders hold off a charge up the ramp into the main, but a lot of reinforcements are warping in to help
Templar archives coming for Ace, TOP tries to move his command center back but the stalkers are still there and it must turn around
TOP comes down and EMPs some of Ace's units
Ace falls back without fighting and TOP lands his command center again
TOP moves out with a mass marauder army and two dropships, but he has to come back when Ace's stalkers move back into the natural
The command center lifts but this time the stalkers shoot it down, sentries force field the ramp so the marauders can't come to help
With the marauders trying to hold the ramp to the natural, Ace sends charge zealots up the main ramp to attack from behind
The marauders melt
TOP concedes
Fantastic play by Ace...good force fields for the most part and a very nice zealot maneuver at the end.
Game 3 - Steppes of War
Standard openings for both players
TOP gets a bunker at his ramp and starts a starport, Ace getting another gateway and a robotics bay
Banshee now for TOP and another barracks, cloak researching as well but Ace's first observer is being chronoboosted
Third barracks for TOP, Ace up to four warp gates
TOP scouts with his factory but misses the extra three gateways. He does cancel cloak however.
Raven and stim for TOP, immortal for Ace
The banshee takes out a probe on its way to Ace's base but then turns around and returns home.
Two immortals, six sentries, plus 8 zealots and 3 stalkers for Ace
The banshee tries to harass Ace's force but he has so many sentries they drive it off
Ace starts a nexus at his expansion, command center half done for TOP
Two bunkers at TOP's natural, Ace moves his army there and attacks
Force fields prevent bunker repair but there are way more bunkers than stalkers once the immortals go down
Ace is forced to pull back. TOP has about six marauders and three dropships at his natural and is getting another banshee
Ace pushes in again but his force fields prevent his zealots from engaging the main group of marauders, so he drops back again
TOP still making more banshees, also getting marine shields and another barracks
Ace has switched into stalkers, but TOP uses a point defense drone to allow his banshees to raid Ace's natural
TOP loses a banshee and falls back to his natural, still building banshees and getting a ghost as well
Robotics bay for Ace, TOP finds the proxy pylon from the previous attack with his banshees and destroys it
Thermal lance and the first colossus for Ace, TOP building infantry and dropships
TOP moves out with a large infantry army and several banshees and medivacs
EMPs on immortal, but Ace walls off his ramp with force fields
TOP engages from the low ground, but that prevents him from hitting the colossus and he gets the worst of it
TOP drops back to his natural with the Protoss army pursuing
Ace moves in with a colossus/stalker army. TOP looks like he's going to get crushed but the zealots can't get into the fight and vikings arrive at the last second
Ace pulls back while TOP harasses the edge of his base with a marauder drop
TOP about 25 supply ahead at the moment, he takes down the rocks leading to the outside third base
Ace takes his outside third while TOP flies a command center there
A banshee tries to force a cancel at the third but stalkers chase it out
Ace still making colossus, TOP still making vikings
TOP moves out with a marauder/viking army, Ace has four colossus and is warping in stalkers
TOP's huge viking fleet snipes one colossus, then TOP moves in
The colossus die almost immediately to TOP's huge number of vikings, then the marauders smash through the stalkers
TOP's army now moves unopposed into the natural, dropping a mule there for good measure
Ace surrenders
Fairly even game 3, but Ace stayed on colossus too long while TOP made a ridiculous number of vikings resulting in him getting crushed in the final battle.
Commentary: It's a shame that Ace got clobbered by a blind counter in game 1 given how well he played in game 2. Perhaps he was nervous? Although in game 3 TOP played pretty well, he didn't seem dramatically better than Ace (the way I expected he would, frankly). Regardless, he moves on to the round of 16 while Ace will have to fight to avoid relegation.
