Gas and pool first for YuGiOh, hatch first for July
Zergling speed for YuGiOh, who then takes zerglings off the gas
Roach warren for July, scouted by the first two lings from YuGiOh
YuGiOh expands at about 22 supply, zergling speed and a baneling nest starts for July after canceling his roach warren
Baneling nest for YuGiOh, July's half done when YuGiOh's starts
Both players' mass ling formations jockey for position near July's base
July's zerglings get cornered against the center rocks, surrounded, and destroyed by YuGiOh's zerglings
July makes two banelings near YuGiOh's base, YuGiOh sends banelings into July's base
Somehow both players fail to do even remotely as much damage to drones as I think everyone expected
YuGiOh getting a roach warren
Both players have similar drone counts but July has lost more zerglings to banelings
More of July's banelings are picked off by single zerglings
Finally there is a bit of a lull...YuGiOh snipes one of July's overlords with a queen
July sends banelings toward YuGiOh but turns around when he sees roaches defending
YuGiOh advances with 8 roaches, July tries to counter with baneligns while making lots of more zerglings
YuGiOh waits to be reinforced by a few banelings, then moves in
With the banelings preventing zerglings from surrounding the roaches, YuGiOh advances into July's main
Some baneling mistakes result in July managing to clean up YuGiOh's attack, but only after taking enormous damage
July manages to reduce YuGiOh's zergling count, forcing YuGiOh to pull his roaches back
One of YuGiOh's banelings kills most of July's pursuing zerglings
July trying to remake his roach warren while YuGiOh advances toward te main again
YuGiOh positions his roaches at the ramp and waits for another wave to arrive
Now with overwhelming numbers they move into the main
July concedes
Surprisingly, YuGiOh out-microed July in that game.
Game 2 - Shakuras Plateau
Top positions, July at 10 and YuGiOh at 2
Both players go gas and pool first
Baneling nest for July, zergling speed for YuGiOh
YuGiOh cancels speed and gets a Roach warren, then July gets one as well
July makes three banelings in the center of the map, one gets sniped by a zergling, then July adds two more
Roaches emerge right at the last second and pick off the banelings as they try to hide at the edges of YuGiOh's base
Zerglings move into July's main and kill a few drones, then July's roaches hatch
Zergling speed now for YuGiOh, expansion for July
YuGiOh expands as well and begins tearing down the rocks between their bases
Lair starts for YuGiOh, a scouting overlord spots it before getting killed
YuGiOh takes down the rocks behind July's base with roaches and sends zerglings to July's natural at the same time
The queen at July's natural is killed, meanwhile YuGiOh's roaches move into July's main
YuGiOh's zerglings arrive to assist. The fighting goes back and forth
July gets the roach advantage, but YuGiOh adds a lot more zerglings
July's roaches shoot down the zerglings and push back across the top of the map
July's roaches move behind YuGiOh's minerals, where they get surrounded by zerglings and drones
July's roaches are all killed, but July now is up 30 drones to 11
YuGiOh comes back into July's main and for a moment seems like he will be able to hit some drones, but July holds him off
A few zerglings sneak into YuGiOh's natural and kill a few drones before getting cleaned up
YuGiOh desperately trying to catch up in the drone count, July just making units
Finally July moves out with his vast roach army
YuGiOh counterattacks with zerglings into July's main and doesn't defend his expansion
July makes some more units and repels YuGiOh's attack, meanwhile his roach army moves into the main
YuGiOh concedes
For a moment it looked like July was going to get eliminated, but he seems to have much better micro with zergling/roach battles than with zergling/baneling.
Game 3 - Lost Temple
Close air positions, July at 9 and YuGiOh at 6
Gas and pool first for both players
Zergling speed starts at about the same time for both players
Baneling nest for YuGiOh, roach warren for July
Zerglings fight in the center of the map and basically cancel each other out
YuGiOh makes one baneling and heads up July's ramp
Roaches are out for July but zerglings hold them off while the baneling hits the drones
Zerglings follow up and kill some of the weakened drones
YuGiOh up about 14 drones to 10, but players start making nothing but drones
July catches up and is only down one drone
YuGiOh puts down spine crawlers and starts his lair, July puts a hatch at his natural
YuGiOh hides his spine crawlers and units while he kills July's scouting overlord
Spire now for YuGiOh, July sends another overlord in and scouts the spire
July's roaches move out, but YuGiOh runs by with a large group of zerglings and attacks July's drones
The roaches head up the ramp and run by the spine crawlers. The surviving roaches focus down the spire
But 5 mutalisks start before it dies
The roaches now attack YuGiOh's lair, back at his main July has stabilized but lost many drones
Spine crawlers, mutalisks and zerglings kill the last roaches, but with one of their last shots they kill the lair
YuGiOh has no expansion and can't afford a hatchery, so he sends his mutalisks to July's main
Two spore crawlers finish just in the nick of time, and now YuGiOh is basically out of options
July turtles while YuGiOh sends his units in a desperate attempt to clear away the spore crawlers
July holds pretty easily
YuGiOh concedes
Another very close game that could easily have gone YuGiOh's way if things had shaken out a little different. I don't understand why YuGiOh didn't attack July's roaches with his drones as well when his lair was being targeted. I can only assume he thought the lair would be safe so he left them on mining. If so it was a catastrophic miscalculation.
Commentary: July might have been a really strong ZvZ player in SC1, but he's still got a ways to go before he'll rival IMNesTea at SC2 ZvZ. Not surprisingly, the heart of his problems seem to be with banelings, the part of ZvZ that is most different from SC1. While the game were very close, it's a deserved victory for July, who will get a chance to win his way into Code S. YuGiOh will stay in Code A for GSL 5.

Game 1 - Lost Temple
Cross positions, Killer at 3 and Byun at 9
Gasless fast expand for Byun, command center at the natural on 20 supply
Killer pokes with a stalker and zealot, but there's a bunker at the chokepoint
Two more barracks for Byun, nexus on 27 supply for Killer
Two more gateways for Killer, engineering bay and stim for Byun
Robotics now for Killer, Byun moves out to his watchtower but no farther
Byun adds a second bunker and a turret to his chokepoint
Starport and two more barracks coming for Byun, observer and robotics bay for Killer
Colossus and thermal lance on the way for Killer, medivacs coming from the reactored starport for Byun
Byun scans and snipes one of Killer's two observers, meanwhile he's getting vikings
Byun moves his infantry to check Killer's gold, then pulls back to the center of the map
Ghost academy for Byun, Killer has three colossus and is making more
Twilight council for Killer, Byun is up to six vikings and also making more
Byun's infantry snipe a few pylons from the low ground, then sends a single marine all the way through Killer's base
Byun takes out the rocks at his gold and starts a command center there
The two armies run into each other in the middle of the map
Byun pulls back and Killer's army forces the gold command center to cancel
Killer withdraws to his own gold, Byun starts the command center again but this time in his main
Killer at 6 colossus, Byun has ten vikings and three ghosts with his infantry army
Both players pretty much maxed, nexus starts at Killer's gold
The two armies meet and although Byun gets the better of the initial contact, his vikings kill the colossus too slowly and his ground army takes heavy casualties
Byun lost a lot of infantry, Killer lost two colossus
Byun takes a fourth at the 12 o'clock natural and builds three more barracks
The third and fourth become planetary fortresses,
Armory for Byun, blink and more colossus coming for Killer
Killer back to 5 colossus in his army, Byun has 11 vikings
Both players are maxed. The two armies move together
Byun pulls back after the force fields go down, he loses a lot of vikings and Killer only loses one colossus
Killer feints toward the gold, then goes and destroys the fourth
Byun only has three vikings but his marauders get a decent concave on the stalkers
Killer has too many stalkers, however, and Byun falls back to his natural.
Killer taking a fourth and threatening Byun's gold
Killer has so many stalkers the vikings can't get close to the colossus
Templar archives and charge coming for Killer
Another big battle happens, and this time the colossus count is lower and many of the stalkers are EMPed
The colossus fall, then the marauders rout the stalkers and force the survivors to blink away
Suddenly Byun has the larger army. He moves into the gold base and destroys it easily with his marauders
Byun splits his forces, sending some down to the fourth while the rest prevent Killer from going to save it
Byun gets his fourth again, Killer long-distance mining from the gold
Byun's marauders pick off a colossus as the armies jockey
Zealots move in and Byun pulls back to his natural
Reinforcing marines turn the tide for Byun while the last colossus fall to vikings
Byun's army moves back to Killer's gold
Killer concedes
For a moment it looked like Killer was going to win because Byun wasn't making enough vikings. However, he just kept fighting battles and each time added some more vikings until he won a decisive victory. From there Killer didn't have the right tech to replenish his armies (colossus take too long to make).
Game 2 - Xel'Naga Caverns
Barracks, reactor, command center on 22 for Byun
Two gas into four warp gates for Killer, bunker going up Byun's natural
Proxy pylon placed at Byun's gold, second barracks out for Byun and stim starting
Killer moves into Byun's natural with four zealots and six stalkers
Byun gets SCVs to the bunker and it holds longer than expected, but it falls
Byun lifts his command center and falls back to the ramp to his main
Killer sends zealots up the ramp and follows with his stalkers
Byun focuses down the zealots and chases out the stalkers
They repeat the process several times, then Byun uses SCVs to block some of the retreating stalkers from going down the ramp
Now Byun pursues the stalkers down the ramp and destroys the proxy pylons
Killer falls back to his base, Byun moves to re-establish his natural
Killer moves in with mostly zealots and sentries before Byun's two new bunkers can finish
Byun has more than enough marines and marauders. He doesn't need the bunkers and easily wins the battle.
Killer surrenders
Strong defense from Byun. I don't think he scouted all four gates, but he must have suspected. Killer got the upper hand initially but when Killer pressed the attack Byun out-maneuvered him.
Commentary: In both games, TSLKiller got the upper hand initially, perhaps because he had better build orders or practice. However, ZeNEXByun just outplayed him from there on, showing better control of large armies across the entire map in the first game and small numbers of units during the rush in the second game. Byun looks like a player to watch, since build orders and macro can be tightened with practice while the tactical sense he showed off is a lot harder to acquire.
