Game 1 - Scrap Station
Both players get pool first, FruitDealer then gets roach warren
Tosyad getting zergling speed and baneling nest
FruitDealer's zerglings scout the baneling nest
Roaches out for FruitDealer, banelings morphing for Tosyad
The roaches attack the banelings as they finish, but zerglings get a surround after the banelings hit
FruitDealer's initial roaches all die, Tosyad's lings briefly attack drones before pulling back
FruitDealer walls off his ramp with more roaches and repel another poke from Tsoyad
FruitDealer gets a baneling nest, then moves out with his roaches as it fniishes
Tosyad puts up spine crawlers and begins his lair
Tosyad morphs banelings near FruitDealer's base, they kill a fair number of drones
But FruitDealer is attacking Tosyad's front, a few escorting banelings kill almost all Tosyad's zerglings
The surviving roaches are essentially unopposed
Tosyad concedes
Tosyad seemed like he got an early advantage, but FruitDealer's roach build seemed like it was superior to Tosyad's speedling/baneling strategy.
Game 2 - Jungle Basin
8 pool from Tosyad, FruitDealer goes hatch first on 15
Tosyad's lings finish just as FruitDealer's pool completes
FruitDealer cancels his expansion when he sees the zerglings
FruitDealer's drone micro easily holds off the 6 zergling rush and the 2 reinforcing zerglings
FruitDealer lost almost no drones
Baneling nest for Tosyad and roach warren for Fruit Dealer
Tosyad's ling/baneling attacks while Fruit Dealer's zergling's counter to Tosya'ds base
Tosyad's banelings kill many drones and a queen, FruitDealer's zergling's kill Tosyad's queen
11 drones for FruitDealer, 10 for Tosyad
Tosyad gets a spine crawler
FruitDealer positions his roaches in Tosyad's main and expands
The roaches move behind the minerals where they can't be surrounded
With reinforcements, FruitDealer's roaches are too strong
The roaches back against a wall and kill all Tosyad's zerglings and most of his drones
The three surviving roaches are unopposed except for a spine crawler
When Tosyad doesn't gg immediately, FruitDealer sends all his drones
Luckily Tosyad surrenders before FruitDealer's drones reach his base
Commentary: I thought that ZvZ is relatively unstable, but FruitDealer looked like he could have gone another 20 games against Tosyad without losing. His drone defense of the 8 pool in the second game was essentially flawless. Can't blame Tosyad, up against one of the best Zergs in the world, for trying cheese, but FruitDealer wasn't even close to losing to it.

Lyn moves in and forces sC to lift again, meanwhile Lyn takes the gold as a fifth
sC continues to win battles with good marine micro, but Lyn's income advantage is too much
About ten minutes after the outcome was beyond doubt, sC finally concedes

Lyn also taking the gold as his third
Stalemate for the moment, Lyn has viking advantage but sC has more tanks and supply
Lyn drops at the gold base, does relatively little damage
Lyn floats his main's orbital command to use it as a fourth base
Despite the one base advantage, Lyn pushes up and fights a huge battle in the center
The result is basically a tie, and given sC leads in supply that favors him
sC drops in Lyn's base again, kills the tech lab on the factory and Lyn's sensor tower
sC slides his tank army into position between Lyn's gold and his fourth
The fourth base is forced to lift, but Lyn drops units on the high ground and manages to clean it up
sC's next army pushes down toward Lyn's natural and does substantial damage before getting cleaned up
Fighting all over the map now as Lyn drops tanks at sC's expansions and sC attacks Lyn's natural
sC floats his command center to the top left island, leaves a force at the other island

Lyn tries to get back on his feet but is harassed by drops from sC
sC is maxed and Lyn is at 98

Lyn finally cleans it up but sC has double the supply now
sC sends his units to Lyn's third, what little units Lyn had were at his main
Lyn surrenders
This was a game that could have gone either way, but sC won with his decisive move across to Lyn's base, combined with Lyn's indecisive response.
Commentary: sC turned out to have a superior understanding of position, and that is crucial in TvT. Despite Lyn's WC3 reputation, sC seemed to have the better micro in battles as well. Although some people find long TvT games boring, this really showed the matchup at its best, with daring tactical maneuvers combined with action all over the map as the two players struggled for the advantage.

AnyproPrimeWE (P) vs TheBestfOu (T)
Match Rating: 3/10
Click for match play by play and commentary
Game 1 - Lost Temple
Close air positions, Anypro at 1, TheBest at 3
Standard openings, Anypro scouts the wrong way and doesn't get up TheBest's ramp
TheBest gets a tech lab, a marauder, and concussive shells
Anypro expands once the SCV is gone
TheBest moves out with two marauders, a marine, and an SCV
Anypro doesn't have many units to begin with and his stalker got sniped as the pressure came
The marauders easily kite a zealot with their concussive shells and force the nexus to cancel
Now the marauders go up the ramp, and there's only a single pylon powering all of Anypro's gateways
Anypro wraps in some more units just as the pylon is destroyed
It turns out losing power during the warp-in animation stops the warp in, so Anypro has nothing but probes
Needless to say he concedes
Build order win for TheBest...embarrassing for a player of Anypro's caliber
Game 2 - Steppes of War
Standard openings for both players.
Three gateways for Anypro, factory and bunker for TheBest
Starport now, probably with a tech lab for banshees
TheBest getting a banshee and cloak
Anypro pushing down with gateway units and setting up a proxy pylon
Anypro walks up the ramp and comes within a few health of killing the bunker
SCVs get down to repair it just in time, repelling the attack
The banshee arrives at Anypro's base just as he begins his robotics facility
When the banshee cloaks, Anypro attacks TheBest's ramp again
Force fields around the bunker to try to stop repair, but a few SCVs are still able to repair
The attack fails, still no detection for the cloaked banshee in Anypro's base
Anypro surrenders
With better micro Anypro might have broken TheBest's ramp, but ultimately doing a build without robotics against a Terran is a very high risk play.
Commentary: Disappointing match for Anypro. TheBest played fine, but the fact both his builds hard countered both of Anypro's was mainly luck. Anypro has only himself to blame, however, since he knew going in his strategies were high risk.

HongUnPrimeWE (P) vs. NEXNaYa (Z)
Match Rating: 3/10
Click for match play by play and commentary
Game 1 - Delta Quadrant
Bottom positions, NaYa at 4, HongUn at 7
Pool first for NaYa, standard opening so far for HongUn
Hatch on 21 for NaYa after getting speed
Stargate coming for HongUn, he starts a void ray
The void ray comes to NaYa's natural and kills the queen there and several drones
No creep connecting the natural to the main means it takes a long time before the second queen can get there
HongUn isn't making more void rays, he's switching to blink stalkers
NaYa is making spore and spine crawlers, doesn't have very many zerglings
HongUn moves out with about a dozen stalkers and easily rolls over NaYa's vastly outnumbered defenders
NaYa concedes
Not having the creep between bases cost NaYa the game, although his failure to anticipate HongUn's transition (which Artosis was expecting from the beginning) didn't help.
Game 2 - Metalopolis
Close ground positions, NaYa at 8, HongUn at 1
Forge first for HongUn, hatch first for NaYa
Pylon behind the expansion's minerals for NaYa
NaYa sends many drones to deal with it, HongUn walls the ramp with two pylons
HongUn puts a cannon and another pylon behind the minerals, NaYa tries to kill it with drones
The cannon finishes and NaYa pulls back, another cannon is placed near the ramp
NaYa finally has zerglings out and breaks the pylon wall, then goes with drones as well to HongUn's base
HongUn puts down many pylons to thickly wall in
With no chance of breaking through, NaYa surrenders
Essentially a build older loss, NaYa had no chance to pull off a hatch first opening in close positions against forge first.
Commentary: Well, HongUn was clearly the better player. We never really got to see how good NaYa was because he never managed a stable opening. It seems like there have been more build order wins in GSL 3's round of 64 than in previous tournaments despite the player pool probably being a fair amount better.
